first of a class grade3

I am a teacher and I would love get some ideas as to how to make the first day of school for my grade 3 children interesting and fun. I will be meeting them for the first time and would love to be friends and make a good impression on them.

Here's one idea to start the ball rolling :

Star Student - The first week of school, you (the teacher) are the star student. You fill out the star student board with facts all about you. You bring in pictures of your family, your friends, your pets, vacations, etc. to share with the children. You can also bring in something for show and tell. This helps the children get to know you a little bit better on the first day of school and it also shows them how the weekly star routine works!

Read to the class a funny story.
